For several years has support for Windows XP, however the following operating system is Windows Vista which has been replaced by Windows 7 very quickly and was not well received by users.
But even though Windows Vista was a very bad operating system in several ways, the support will continue until 2017 and the Windows XP support will continue until 2014.
Windows Vista won’t have new features that we already know but security updates will continue to prevent the system to become vulnerable, although it is one of the reasons that users migrated to Windows 7.

This extended support for these platforms is because many users can not migrate from their applications especially when they do not know if you have the same stability or if manufacturers have support for new platforms, which is why Windows XP is still in a great number of computers.
So Windows 7 will support up to 2020 and in the coming months will be released Windows 8. These new platforms are very good for its new features for common users, but for businesses can be a severe headache.
